The National Defence Academy (NDA) is the cornerstone of military leadership training, where cadets from the Army, Air Force, and Navy undergo rigorous training before advancing to their respective service academies for post-commissioning training. Conducted twice a year by UPSC, the NDA exam is renowned for its challenging nature and is considered one of the toughest competitive exams in India. It comprises 120 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) from Mathematics and 150 MCQs from General Ability. To succeed, candidates must prepare at a Class XII level in subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Basic Geography, History, Current Affairs, and general awareness about India.
The SSB (Service Selection Board) process spans five days, assessing candidates on various fronts: general skills, psychological, group dynamics, physical endurance, mental acuity, social adaptability, and emotional stability. Annually, around 4 lakh candidates appear for this written examination.
